Valentine’s Mixed Media Canvas

If you haven’t heard, I have recently become one of the 2018 Artist in Residence for Imagine!  I am so thrilled and honored to be part of such a talented team.  This is going to be a great year.

My first project in this new role is this Valentine’s mixed media canvas.

I have started using the Imagine Fireworks! Shimmery Craft Spray and I have fallen in love.  There are so many wonderful qualities to this spray and I will be creating and sharing many more projects in the near future.

Something I noticed right away was the incredible amount of shimmer that settles into the cracks when the spray dries. Also, the color doesn’t run or blend after it has dried and another color is introduced.  This is really a HUGE selling point for me!  How many times have you sprayed a background and wanted to add a new color on top, only to have it blend with the previous color and change the look or worse, become mud.  This will not happen with the Fireworks! spray.

It also works on many different surfaces, like this resin frame. I used Bamboo Leaves on the flowers and ribbon and if you look closely you can see the gold shimmer settled into the detail.

I used Creative Medium to create the texture through the stencil and it is so light and creamy. It almost has a whipped consistency and it spreads very easily.

I haven’t created many feminine canvas layouts and with Valentine’s Day next month, I was inspired to get some pink colors and flowers and create something pretty.  I also really love using the Prima resin frames from the Frank Garcia line.  They are so detailed and gorgeous!  I think that really helped bring it all together.
