I’m excited to be here with you today to kick off fall crafting with a fun blog hop! There are so many talented designers on this hop. I hope you have fun and find some inspiration.
We are working with the wonderful vinyl from Style Tech Craft, so of course, my first thought was to get my Cricut out and cut something fun for fall decorating and go from there. Then I decided to challenge myself to do something completely different and use the vinyl in a non-traditional way. I really LOVE all things mixed media, so it seemed natural for me to go in that direction.
I hope you enjoy this project…
Style Tech Craft provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.
I did start with cutting out a shape from the vinyl, but I used a metal die and die cutting machine. I left the backing on because I wanted it to be a little more sturdy but you could use the transfer tape to pick up the vinyl and place it on your project.
Next I used some modeling paste through a stencil, let it dry, then covered the whole tag with white gesso.
Time for color! I used some watercolor powder and sprayed it with water on my background to get this glorious color.
I had this chipboard piece that I wanted to match the starburst that I die cut earlier, so I stuck it to a piece of the vinyl and used a craft knife to cut it out. Then I took a different stencil with some black modeling paste to create a fun pattern on top. I couldn’t let the leftover black paste on the stencil go to waste and I thought it might make a cool pattern so I flipped the stencil and rubbed it onto the tag. I really love the texture it created!
Finally, I put it all together and made a colorful fall tag that you could use on a gift or home decor piece. You can also see the beautiful shimmer of the metallic vinyl on these close up shots. It is really gorgeous and so easy to work with.
Here is my final project! I really love the quote, “Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go”.
Thank you so much for hopping along with us today! I hope you found some inspiration here and with all of the other amazing projects!
Have a wonderful day!
